SPEAKER: JUDITH DONATH (US), Fellow at Harvard University Berkman Center
HOST: HUGH FORREST (US), Event Director at South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Festival
We are currently in the midst of tremendous changes in privacy. Our personal, professional, and financial interactions increasingly take place online, where almost everything is archived and potentially searchable and publishable
Cameras are ubiquitous in public places. Our movements are recorded by store-owners, government agencies and, of course, our friends who post and tag pictures of us.
We share our location both deliberately via updates to locative social media and unconsciously via our location-aware telephones.
Judith Donath will discuss the role of design in this changing cultural landscape. In particular, she will outline the importance of making the line between the private and public spheres as clear as possible and of showing people the significance of the information they are revealing.
